Update II: Finally I quit Instagram. I don’t like the way they manage the changes in the terms of services and I don’t trust on this site anymore. This make me put attention in the details and, after read all the new terms that will start to rule next days, I am sure that if all the users would left until they put something reasonable all would be ok. I don’t want give my images for free forever and for whatever purposes Instagram/facebook wants. This things broke the joy and can contribute in the future with more of this. Update: I suspended my Instagram account after they announced the new terms of service that, to make short, the can do whatever they want with your images. Several voices raises against this:

Almost all the trends about the use of iphone, Hipstamatic and Instagram were commented. Prestigious photographers like John Stanmeyer wrote about the value that this tool have to communicate and he gave examples about how he use it. But I don’t found any mention about how this device developed some kind of implosion about the authors way of see. I mean, the instagram site and the iphone are used by professional photographers but not only to show work (Ben Lowy did the cover of Time magazine with his iPhone and Hipstamatic app), sometimes they communicate too aspects of their every day life and the things that they see, the way they see, not only news photography. This is like an implosion to their intimate worlds.
Is interesting too that checking the favorites photos of some well known names, like magnum photographer Gueorgui Pinkhassov, David Guttenfelder and Benjamin Lowy, you can found an edited version of the site. And this editions connect to more unknown photos and photographers, at less for me, that can be inspiring. Here is an example. This is very helpful because the site is designed in a very uncomfortable way. By the way, the functions only works thru the iPhone and not a computer. And is not clear how to search people or see the photos of the people I follow. You can’t add tags or categories after you uploaded the photos either. And the site profiles are practically invisible for search with a computer. Very odd.
I get access to all that thanks to my friend Barry who sent me as a gift his iPhone. I never thought to buy one.

Actualizacion II: Finalmente me fui de Instagram. No me gustó la manera que manejaron los cambios en las condiciones de uso del servicio y no confió más en ellos. Esto me hizo poner más atención en los detalles y, después de leer todos los nuevos términos que empezarán a regir los próximos días, estoy seguro que si todos los usuarios se retiraran hasta que ellos pusieran algo razonable todo estaría ok. No quiero dar mis imágenes gratuitamente por siempre y para cualquier propósito que Instagram/Facebook quiera. Estas cosas rompen la diversión y pueden contribuir en el futuro con más de esto

Casi todas las tendencias sobre el uso del iPhone, Hipstamatic e Instagram fueron comentadas. Prestigiosos fotógrafos como John Stanmeyer escribieron sobre el valor de esta herramienta para comunicar y él dio ejemplos sobre como usarlas. Pero no encontré mención alguna sobre como este aparato desarrolló una suerte de implosión sobre la forma de ver de los autores. Quiero decir, el sitio de Instagram y el Iphone son usados por fotógrafos profesionales pero no sólo para mostrar trabajo (Ben Lowy hizo la tapa de la revista Time con su iPhone y la aplicación Hipstamatic), algunas veces ellos comunican también aspectos de su vida diaria y las cosas que ellos ven, como las ven, no sólo fotografía de noticias. Esto es como una implosión a su mundo íntimo.
Es interesante también que chequeando las fotos favoritas de algunos nombres bien conocidos, como el fotógrafo de Magnum Gueorgui Pinkhassov, David Guttenfelder y Benjamin Lowy, usted también puede encontrar una versión editada del sitio. Y estas ediciones conectan a mas fotos y fotógrafos desconocidos, al menos por mi, que pueden ser inspiradores. Aquí va un ejemplo. Esto es de gran ayuda proque el sitio está diseñado de una forma muy incómoda. A propósito, las funciones sólo funcionan a través del iphone y no de una computadora. Y no está claro como buscar gente o ver fotos de la gente que uno sigue. Tampoco se pueden poner palabras claves o categorías después que uno subió las fotos. Y los perfiles del sitio son prácticamente invisibles para la búsqueda con computadora. Muy raro.
Accedí a todo esto gracias a mi amigo Barry quien me envió como regalo su Iphone. Nunca pensé en comprar uno.
